Lame imo

This basically made me stop playing EQ2. I am not sure what the plan was when they designed this add on, but you would think that they would have at least made an effort to do something worth playing.

More of the same

Having played online multiplayer games since back in the day when they were done with text only and were known as MUDs, I was not overly impressed with Everquest II. I must say that having read the reviews on Amazon I had high expectations, but after a while I was disillusioned. You level up on the fast track, and each level brings pretty much nothing as a reward. There seemed to have been little thought to the the classes. All they offered up was the holy trinity: tank-nuker-healer. As far as skills went, you got the same three or four skills all over with different names.

Yes, the graphics and sound were excellent and top of the line, but aside from the eye candy, the game itself does not offer much in terms of storyline. Quests seem random and sometimes not even alignment specific. For the hundreds of dollars that Sony asks you to shell out (15*12=180+cost of game), I would have expected something more than just eye candy. Even the crafting system was lackluster. I have seen MUDs with much better game play and design than this one, and if you need graphics at least Guild Wars has a more innovative design to the class system with many more game play options (Group PvP, Solo PvP, PvE Group Play, PvE Solo play) than what I experienced on Everquest II -- all that for a one time payment (no subscription fee required).

Great Game

After many years playing WoW - my and my friends decided to try out EQ2. So far it has been a great game, and we have been impressed. The character development / advancement is much, much more in depth. The game being, overall, much more of a hard-core role playing game then the more action oriented WoW. The overall package is not as "smooth" as WoW, but still impressive.

The level of choices (24 classes, 18 races, class customization) make is so you really feel like you have an individual character - this was missing from WoW. End-game characters all looked and played relatively the same.

Anyway, if you want a good, hard-core MMORPG with a satisfyingly high learning curve this is a great choice.

Good Job on This One

A lot better than the past couple of expansions, Sentinal's Fate has excellent graphics, spans a large "world" and really is overall better than what I have seen in the past. It is also much more player friendly making it a lot more fun! Although, I am not real happy with the level cap being raised to 90 (I think perhaps level-ups in increments of 5 would have been better) you don't have to be max level to enjoy it, crafting or adventuring. Good job SOE!

Dated graphics and quests

Everquest II was first released in 2004 and it's feelings its age. The graphics and the style of the quests are dated. That said I have been playing online Multi-player role-playing games for many years now and I have high expectations, my nine year old would probably enjoy this game for the same reasons I disliked is (I wanted plot depth and story development, he wants as few words as possible, I want a challenge, he doesn't want it too difficult). I played Everquest for three weeks and got bored so I went back to Lord Of The Rings Online (which I have played happily for over eighteen months now), I would also recommend Runes Of Magic which is free (and which held my attention for a year).
