For 200 years, Vault 101, a fallout shelter, has served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants. Yet one morning, you awake to find that your father has left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father. Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) that combines the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda.

Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence - Radiant AI, America's First Choice in Human Interaction Simulation. Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results Eye-Popping Prettiness - Witness the harsh realities of nuclear fallout rendered like never before in modern super-deluxe HD graphics

All in all, a strong contender for game of the year

I remember how absolutely obsessed I was with the original 2 games in this series. This game, while not the cookie-cutter copy the die-hards were wanting, measures up to the same quality standards of the originals. I have played multiple playthroughs of this game already and can't put it away.

Is it Oblivion with guns? Maybe. I tried playing Oblivion a bunch of times but I couldn't last long with that game's terrible leveling system. This game uses a more standard point allocation system unlike Oblivion's increase through repetative use system. I felt more in control of how my character evolved. Such as, when I could put points to raise my Science (hacking) skill even though I didn't use it all that much until later in the game.

I did not have any technical issues installing or executing the game. There has been some crashes to desktop during play. And I have found a scripting bug which prevent me from completing a quest.

You do not have to run this game while online or logged in, or even with the disc in. (That last part is because I found that if you execute the Fallout3.exe file instead of the default shortcut, it bypasses the launcher check disc.) Which I praise. Thank you.

To any parents reading this, please keep in mind that this is a Rated M for a reason.

Great Game In Everyway

I played Fallout 1 and 2 and loved both of them. This is a different type of game but it oozes fallout atmosphere. The combat, content, and large sandbox environment is awesome.

LOTS OF REPLAY VALUE: There is so much to explore in this game you can play it twice and experience a lot of different content and areas the second time through.

THE 'M' RATING IS EARNED: The game is very violent and gory and has other adult content. There are no nipples or overt graphic sexual content(which is somewhat ironic considering the level of violence).

PERFORMANCE: This runs well on my top of the line last year PC.

SYNOPSIS: GREATE GAME! Get it!

Avoid GTA4...cough

Great game. Just wish they had the same lvl system in Oblivion and I also hate how the main quest just ends the game when you win.

Worth the price and one of the best games of the year

Fallout 3 will most likely be game of the year or a top game in its category. It's not a perfect game and does have a few annoyances, but it's well worth the original price and the more the price comes down the sweeter the deal gets. Some new games out there now are simply not worth the 40-50 price tag (left for dead for example) but you won't say that when you buy and play this game.

CRASHES- 5-15 min of game play before game crash

Customer Rating: Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5
First the game is great, but it crashes. Updated everything(drivers/Game) and it crashes the audio on the computer(causes game crash) most the time it only happens in combat(lots of sounds). Patch #1 came out-no fix. When a patch comes out to fix the crash issue it will be a great game. I hope it gets fixed soon.
