I got this to use with my six year old granddaughter when she comes to our house. We go to our local park to look for fairies. (She's seen one!) We have a lot of fun. Some of the recipes aren't too good, but they are all easy and fun.

just ok

This cookbook looks very cute, and the photographs are done well. However, it's not so much a COOK book as a Sandra Lee style use pre-made stuff and make it look different book.
The recipes in this book were not very impressive to me, and some of them looked like the food would be disgusting.
The two recipes that the book actually has create abysmally small portions of the items. Why would I follow this books recipe and go through all the trouble of making hand made cupcakes, only to be able to make 6 cupcakes total. Yes 6. Same with the brownie recipe.

Some of the recipes seemed really weird, like taking a cupcake, mixing ice cream with pink lemonade and then "frosting" the cupcake with the lemonade flavored ice cream. Uhh no thank you!
Same with cutting TORTILLAS into snowflakes and then coating them with so much powdered sugar you can't tell it's a tortilla anymore. and lets not forget the "pink" hot chocolate. Basically it's melted white chocolate, which is really really bad for you, and food coloring, mixed with milk. The picture didn't even look pink! It's an unappetizing beige color. I'd rather just add food dye to regular hot cocoa, or use pink marshmallows.

All in all this book is just okay. you can find just about all the recipes with better versions in other cookbooks. I suppose it has a creative think outside of the box thought process, but it wasn't really that unique seeming to me.

I'm really really glad I checked this out of the library instead of wasting 10 dollars on it! Definitely look through it in a bookstore if you can, just to see if it's something you actually would want to own.

Ideal for a Fairy Party

This is a lovely children's cookbook. Yes, it's fairly small, but it has 30 recipes--I wasn't expecting the Joy of Cooking for children or anything. My daughter wanted a fairy birthday party, and I used a number of the recipes--they were all delicious, and I saw more that we'll be trying in the future. I particularly liked the Magic Bonbon Cookies and the cupcakes decorated like mushrooms. What I also really like about the book is that you can have spring/summer or fall/winter themed recipes--nice, depending on what time of year your child's birthday is.

The recipes lean more heavily towards sweets, but there are savories in there as well. I think the book is especially appealing since kids love tiny food. The recipes would be fun to liven up an ordinary rainy-day tea party as well.

I recommend this one and am planning to order the Mermaid one as well!

Not the best

There are not very many recipes in this book and it takes up a lot of room for as little as it has in it. Just has a prety cover and sometimes what is in the pretty cover is not always good, This is one of those books.
