I truly enjoyed the book. I actually read the book before I watched the movie. I wrote a book about a boy jump roper months before this movie was released and so it was a coincidence the similarity. I enjoy the story about a boy overcoming gender sterotypes to do something he wants to do. The moves are amazing and how the visual aspect of it all is translated to the story is really done well. So, don't simply watch the movie and call it a day. Read the book too. I'm a teacher and have it available in the classroom along with my book Racing the Rope about a sixth grade boy who wants to win his school's jump rope tournament. Two good books about jump roping.
