Unfortunately a disappointment
Customer Rating:

I was excited to receive my copy of Devil's Playground by D. P. Lyle and thrilled to see that the new copy I purchased was signed by the author. Past that, I had a difficult time with the book.
It is clear that there was not an editor for the book, as there were grammatical mistakes (e.g., capitalizing words that should not have been, improper use of quote marks and apostrophes, and some disastrous, but humorous, misspellings) that got in the way of my reading.
I also had a difficult time with the believability of the plot. I am a fan of the mystery/thriller genre, but there were too many things that felt unsupported to me. I found myself wondering if I liked the book or not and was hoping to have a decision (with mind open for a positive decision) by the end of my reading. Unfortunately, I ended the book with the feeling that it was a disappointment.
Note: I do want to give Dr. Lyle a chance with his books for mystery writers, but I think that I am done with the Samantha Cody series.
