A fun and extremely informative book
Customer Rating:

This fun and extremely informative book is an owner's manual for the human waist, that flabby bit that, for most of us, arrives everywhere first, making a big impression. The two medical researchers who wrote this book give you an in-depth look at you, food and weight. They take you on a tour of hunger, how you digest food, why you get fat, the effects of being fat, and what you can and should (and should not!) do to lose weight.
Overall, I found this to be a fascinatingly informative book. I really enjoyed the authors' description of how your hunger and digestive systems work (the two are not the same, though they do overlap), and their advice on losing inches off of your waist (which is much more important than simply losing pounds). The authors take a fun, sometimes whimsical, style, which kept the book from being too heavy...and I do like a bit of fun.
I found the advice to be mostly common sense, and non-radical, which I like. I fear diets in which the authors tell you to do things that seem strangely out of balance with the way humans have always lived. So, if you are interested in learning why the pounds are so hard to remove, and want a no-nonsense plan for getting thinner, then get this book. I highly recommend it!
