Summary: Disappointing
Comment: Toobin's thesis is interesting--that the conspiracy involved the left, the right, and the media, but
he fails to develop it. His politics are transparent, his logic faulty, and his prose, painfully
glib. Smart and smarmy.

Summary: Vast Conspiracy
Comment: Yes, here we go, a book about how poor Bill got himself in trouble, but it was not really his own
fought. The powers that be were out to get him from the start. He may of made a few mistakes, but he
said; "he was sorry" and we should move on. Mean old Ken Starr was the one with the sorted pass and
anyone he questioned about the Clintons and answered honestly, were as bad as him. We are to think
that new rules were written only to get the Clintons and the same rules would not have been used on
someone else. Jeffery Toobin has his own agenda in this book, and that is to make Bill look like
a victim and not the one who made the mistakes. Mr. Toobin wants us to think that lying under oath
is not enough to be booted out of office. He wants us to think that although you could go to jail
for lying under oath it is not enough for an impeachment. My thought on this is, if you can serve
time for lying under oath, then it is an impeachable offense. Yes; this is another attempt for the
mass media to swing far to the left. The book is a poor attempt to try to save a failed presidency.
The book is an attempt to convince us that what we learned about "OLD BILL" was wrong, and that
the only real wrong he did was lying to his wife about the scandal. And that Ken Starr forced him
to go to TV and lie in our faces.

If the blue dress would not have been kept, we would still be
hearing the same old lies, and Monica would have been much worse off for it. But then; Mr. Toobin
would not have a book would he?

Summary: Makes everyone look bad
Comment: In spite of all the accusations that Toobin is a DNC lackey and a Clinton apologist (even in the New
York Times), I am hard pressed to see where he grants the president any leeway. As an attorney, he
carefully distinguishes between legal and ethical questions; as a journalist, he is scrupulous
about stating (and hedging) facts. His account is entirely credible, and it appears that he is
critical about his sources.

It gets less than a perfect score because Mr. Toobin too often
succumbs to the temptation of his own moralizing and gossip, even beyond valid criticism of
questionable legal practices here and there. The facts about the individuals speak for themselves.

Undoubtedly, Clinton-haters will also hate this book, since it doesn't support their views.
Toobin's main point - that there are political operatives in this country who do not respect the
democratic process and instead seek redress in the legal system - is amply demonstrated in the
Clinton/Lewinsky/Jones/Whitewater fiasco. This is the real news in this affair, not that
presidents have uncontrollable egos (and libidos).

I recommend this book to anyone who is
interested in the whole chain of events and is unafraid of being disgusted even more by everybody.

Summary: Lapdog
Comment: Toobin is obviously another lapdog for the left. Anyone who thinks Clinton was the 'good guy' in all
this is obviously part of the 'left-wing conspiracy' -- you know the one that has most of the media
controled opinions/reporting in favor of poor, poor abused Bill. You know, the one that has
people like Toobin who works for a liberal newspaper and news agency (ABC). I'd like to see an
investigation in the voting records of America's media elite that pretend to be non-biased.

Summary: Review of Vast Conspiracy
Comment: This book continued to distract and deny the truth. I felt this book was written from news clips. I
thought I was having a flashback of the news media. The book sounded like Clinton's lawyers. I hope
someone makes a book called the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy because this book would fit. He fails to
mention how Bill wanted Monica to tell Linda to lie in court. But in this book I felt the truth
did not matter. (who paid him to write this book? Clinton's? )I made a mistake by buying this book
and supporting the left-wing conspiracy. This book all-round was nothing but lies and distracting.
