Summary: Squeezing The Sleaziness In "A Vast Conspiracy"
Comment: Jeffrey Toobin has discovered how the dots were connected by Clinton-haters in an attempt to bring
down the Presidency, to make it subjected not only to the Supreme Court and lesser courts but also
to the Republican-led Congress. Jeffrey Toobin's book uncovers the sleaze that operated to
dispose of a duly elected president. The American People are the heroes of this book. We knew the
difference between justifiable removal from office and the sleazy attempts made by the
sanctimonious, hypocritical Republicans like Henry Hyde and almost Speaker of the House Livingston.
And faking indignation at all this was a soulmate of Linda Tripp and Susan Carpenter-MacMillan and
Loose Cannon Goldberg--none other than the Republican's own poster boy for adultry and hypocrisy
Newt Gingrich. And the Republicans wonder why they did not win the House for 40 years! It's your
holier-than-thou attitude, your siege-mentality and your spoiled-brat behavior,stupid! Thanks
Jeffrey for letting the sun shine on this sorrowful, darker side of our political life.

Summary: Fair and Balanced Account
Comment: Only a true Clinton-hater could call this book pro-Clinton. It is a fair and balanced account of an
ugly episode in American history. Clinton bears the ultimate responsibility for this matter.
However, that does not change the fact that there were many people who worked obsessively and
unscrupulously to end this presidency by any means possible. But as Toobin points out, this was
payback for liberals who for years have been using the judicial system to accomplish what the
democractic process has denied them.

Summary: Where is the love people?
Comment: Are any of you shocked at the amount of vitriol in these reviews? I am not. The whole idea of unity
is a crock. You choice is the devil, or the deep blue sea.

Summary: Yes, it WAS about sex
Comment: After reading the 352 pages of Toobin's book, the whole Monica affair boils down to this
(paraphrase) of what Toobin asked in his book:

If Tripp was only doing her duty as a concerned
citizen, why did she take her story and tapes to Lucianne Goldberg, instead of to a law-enforcement
agency?

Don't listen to the bleatings of the Clinton-haters about how the President has destroyed
the moral fiber of the country by lying under oath (which he surely did). We're all much smarter
than they give us credit for. After all, the American people saw right through this(and surely it
WAS a conspiracy, just not in the conventional sense of the word).

It WAS about sex. And greed
and revenge and lust (for power) as well.

Summary: One star is still too high a rating
Comment: There he goes again. In his book, Toobin continues on with the same worn-out excuses to cover Bill
Clinton's contempt for the law. The mainstream press will adore this book because it is full of the
same propaganda they fed us for fourteen months during Monicagate, but it makes for lousy history.
If you are looking at buying this book, I would recommend you spend your money on a good novel or
something.
