This book has some stunning photographs of tiny anatomical structures and physiological processes (such as excretion from the Sphincter of Oddi). However, for the most part, similar photographs and some better photographs can be found now on the Internet. An book for science-minded kids if you are trying to raise them with a minimum of Internet exposure.

This book is stunning in its capturing of the human body in ways that still seem impossible even after I am familiar with them. This book with its hundreds of large, detailed microphotographs gives you a whole new sense of what it is to be alive and what you are alive inside of. If your a doctor or a srudent or just an inhabitant of a human body, this book will make you feel more at home where you are.
