Great reference text

Had this for a class text. The writing is done with a light-hearted touch, which is no surprise; I have had Professor Knapp for class, and he has a flair for the dramatic. But this book is also a great reference for the basics of trial. Definitely recommended.

A Good Overview of Trial Advocacy

This book takes students through all the major topics of trial advocacy from jury selection to closing argument. Chapter One introduces students to the key phases of trial by pretending that a fictional story written in 1937, The Devil and Daniel Webster, actually was a trial.

There is also a very detailed chapter on evidentiary objections with helpful ideas on how to make objections, when to make them, and most importantly, the basis for significant objections.

The book concludes with a transcript of a hypothetical case that takes readers from jury selection to verdict. Throughout the book the authors use their wit to make their teaching entertaining.
