Editorial Reviews
A terrifying thriller that will crawl beneath your skin . . . and leave fresh blood on every page.

A mysterious disease is turning thousands of ordinary Americans into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, their own families, and even themselves. And one morning, ex–football star Perry Dawsey awakens to find mysterious welts growing all over his body. Soon Perry finds himself acting and thinking strangely, hearing voices, fighting uncontrollable rage . . . he is infected. Worse, the disease wants something from him, something that could alter the fate of the human race.

Not bad

Worth the quick read. Perfect for public transportation or a night in bed.

The beginning and middle portion of the book are really interesting. Sort of the kind of book where the longer you go without really getting the whole picture the better (try not to guess too much). Once it was pretty obvious what the deal was you are just hanging out waiting for it to end.

I feel that the Percy story, though the most interesting through most of the novel, takes over too much at the end. Also, the end just seemed to be rushed and lacked the mystery and suspense of the earlier sections of the novel. You sort of wonder at the end why the other characters were even developed as much as they were since their stories basically stop. Perhaps that sort of has to do with the nature of the infection and the limit of what the other characters really could add near the end. But maybe it is me wanting the build up of the book to go another direction than it actually went, or enjoying it so much I wouldn't mind another 100 pages.

Not your typical horror novel. Sigler has a fluid writing style that is easy to read and fun. Infected is infused with science and characters that make the plot valid and the read enjoyable. Bonus, there are 50 pages of the sequel Contagious in this book as well.

Not even close to Stephen King

Matter of fact, I'd describe this book as Stephen King fan fiction.

It started off interesting but then the storyline moved at a crawl pace.
The plot & characters were cliche and so predictable that I had a bet going with my boyfriend to guess what the "infection" really was and the story's conclusion (and now he owes me dinner). I've seen this storyline several times, just in different forms.
... and the metaphors... oh wow. My brain still hurts from the overkill of metaphors used in this book.

Again, I love Stephen King so I don't mind gore, violence or even the use of the "f" word, but many of the descriptions/words the author chose to use made it seem like it was written by a 14-yr old boy in some parts.
And like another reviewer mentioned, the violence & attitude towards women was pretty offensive & off-base as well.

It had potential but turned out to be like every other infection/invasion/end of the world movie you'd see on the Sci-fi channel.

Beat all of my expectations

I'll save my 5 stars for high art - which this is not. But I would still give it 5 stars for entertainment and readability, especially for fans of horror novels.

There are a few slightly incredible leaps that happen during the story (in my opinion anyway), but who cares really? Its worth overlooking that stuff just for the story of Perry's infection which is one of the sickest things I've ever read. And I mean that in the best way possible. That character in particular made the entire book for me.

I listened to this book on my iPod rather than read it, and I highly recommend that if you have the opportunity. Sigler is as fun a reader as he a storyteller. Definitely one of the better audiobooks I've listened to this year.

I didn't have the highest expectations for this book, so I was pleasantly surprised that this one delivered. Sigler is a pretty talented writer. Now I'm really looking forward to CONTAGIOUS!

I've read a lot of great books and this is definitly not one of them,if his others are as tiresome, long winded and as boring as this one, they truly are a waste of good paper!
